Hialeah Park 'Invaders' Doing Well

Hialeah, FL, May 30- Though the inaugural racing season at Hialeah Park ended nearly four months ago, horses from the Hialeah meet remain ultra competitive all across North America.

From the start, the Hialeah Park meet was marked by quality horses from all across the country. South Florida racing fans regularly saw horses from as far west as New Mexico and as far north as Alberta, Canada. Following the Hialeah meet, horsemen took back to the road, shipping their runners back to their respective home bases and preparing them for strong summer campaigns. So far, their plans seem to be working.

As has been the tradition for years, Memorial Day Weekend marks the opening of the prestigious Ruidoso Downs in northen New Mexico. Home to quarter horse racing's biggest race, the All American Futurity, trainers always strive for their best at that meeting. Saturday afternoon's program at Ruidoso saw three runners who wintered in South Florida try for their spot in the G1 Ruidoso Quarter Horse Derby. The first, El Nino Invitational Winner Shakem Blue blew the break and was soundly bumped leaving the gate. Brimful, the 2009 Hialeah Lassie Futurity winner also saw action at Ruidoso but ran in to the World Record holder Double Down Special and weakened to be 5th. However, the third horse, the 3rd place finisher in the Hialeah Laddie Futurity, Swingin Daddyo delivered the goods at 6-1 under Cody Wainscott. The Brad Bolen runner came home with a clocking of 19.42, making him the 5th fastest qualifier for the $250,000 final set for June 12.

Saturday night's feature race at Indiana Downs, a $20,000 Allowance at 250 yards, saw the return of Sunshine State Stakes winner One Tough Dude, who defeated fellow Hialeah Park winners Bold Badon and Hes Regal (4th in 2008 Kindergarten Futurity) with multiple stakes winner Jessluvchicks back in 5th  under Hialeah mainstay Aron Hunt. In his first start for the Rafael Flores stable (previously in the barn of Paul Jones) the 4-year old son of Corona Cartel broke with the field and under strong urging from Manuel Gutierrez prevailed by a neck in a quick 13.14 amidst a strong cross wind.

In addition, Hialeah Park shippers have been spotted in the winner's circle at Louisiana Downs, Sam Houston, SunRay Park and Remington Park. Way to go Hialeah Park horses and horsemen! The staff and management of Hialeah Park wish you continued success all summer long!
